Pouderoyen FC crushed Number #1 All-Stars by a 3-0 score-line, when the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Senior Men’s League continued last evening at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora, West Coast Demerara.
Chad Matthews opened the scoring in the 32nd minute from penalty mark. Awarded the spot-kick after being brought down inside the 18-yard area, Matthews made no mistake from the distance, as he fired his effort into the left corner of the net.
The lead was quickly doubled in the form of Tefon Daly, who found the back of the net two minutes later. Receiving the ball 30 yards from goal in the centre of the field, the diminutive midfielder uncorked a thunderous right footed shot which rifled into the top left corner.
The contest was then sealed in the 58th minute, as EJ Mars made his presence felt. It was a moment of individual brilliance from the burly midfielder, who after cutting onto his right foot from the left side, smashed the ball into the roof of the right corner.
