The Petra Organization coordinated ExxonMobil U14 Boys and Girls football championship will commence tomorrow at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
In the Boys Division, L’Aventure battles Cummings Lodge, and Charlestown opposes Ann’s Grove at 11:40hours. Dolphin Secondary takes aim at St. Cuthbert’s Mission, and Patentia tackles Campbellville at 12:30 hours. At 13:20 hours, Lodge Secondary faces-off against Plaisance Boys Orphanage, and East Ruimveldt matches skills with Leonora. Freeburg will oppose Houston and Westminster engages North Ruimveldt at 15:00 hours.
In the final two matches at 16:40 hours, New Central battles West Ruimveldt, and St. Winifred’s locks horn with Tucville.
The Boy’s pool features 20 teams competing in an initial round-robin format. L’Aventure, New Campbellville, Cummings Lodge, and Patentia make up Group-A, while Group-B consists of Dolphin, East Ruimveldt, St. Cuthbert’s Mission, and Leonora, with Group-C featuring North Ruimveldt, Westminster, Plaisance Boys Orphanage, and Lodge Secondary. Group-D comprises Houston, New Central, Freeburg, and West Ruimveldt whilst Group-E is made up of Charlestown, St. Winifred’s, Tucville, and Ann’s Grove.
In the Girls section, Group-A comprises New Campbellville, Dolphin, East Ruimveldt, Lodge, and Leonora, with Group-B containing West Ruimveldt, New Central, Tucville, Charlestown, and Ann’s Grove.
New Campbellville will battle Leonora, and Dolphin will oppose Lodge at 10:00hrs, while West Ruimveldt takes aim at Ann’s Grove, and Charlestown faces off with Tucville at 10:50hrs.
At 14:10hrs, East Ruimveldt matches skills with New Campbellville and Ann’s Grove returns to the field to engage Tucville. The final match at 15:50hrs will pit New Central High against West Ruimveldt.
Upon the conclusion of the group stage, 16 teams will advance to the knockout round from the boy’s pool. The teams will then play for positions 1 to 16. Similarly, the female section will contest for positions 1 to 8.
The top four finishers from each division will walk away with $300,000, $150,000, $75,000, and $40,000 respectively with winnings going towards a project within the respective institutions. The total sponsorship of the tournament comes in at $6 million.
