Businessman held over 4 Miles Bartica ganja find

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Friday reported the discovery of a kilogramme of cannabis at 4 Miles Squatting Area, in Bartica and the arrest of a businessman in connection with it.
According to a GPF statement, between 11:00 hrs and 13:00hrs on Friday, police conducted searches of several houses within the area.
The home of the 41-year-old businessman was among those searched but nothing illegal was found. However, a further search was conducted some 50 feet away from the man’s house in some bushes, and four black plastic bags which were buried underground were found.
The bags were dug up and were said to contain a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis. The businessman was shown the suspected cannabis and he denied ownership and knowledge of it.
