Two North West residents, one a 22-year-old and the other a 16-year-old boy, were yesterday taken before the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court where they were charged with the murder of Jude Christiano.
Twenty-two-year-old Wayne Da Silva called ‘Monkey Man’ of Hobo Hill, North West District (NWD), and the teen, both appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce. They were not required to plead to the indictable charge.
The charge against the duo states that on August 3rd at Kumaka Waterfront, NWD, they murdered 18-year-old Christiano. The man and the teen were remanded to prison and the matter adjourned to August 18th, 2022. The teen defendant was represented by attorney-at-law Bernard DaSilva.
The Guyana Police Force issued a statement saying that Christiano and the two males were seen arguing and when Christiano ran away, the two gave chase. They eventually caught Christiano and started to beat him. An eyewitness, according to the police, said that one of the men then pulled a knife and stabbed him in his neck, causing him to stumble and fall. The two then escaped leaving Christiano motionless.
