President of the Bartica Football Association (BFA), Alden Marslowe, has declared that he would support a bid for a third term by the incumbent Wayne Forde-led Guyana Football Federation (GFF) executive committee.

This was disclosed during a brief interview with Stabroek Sport yesterday. Marslowe stated, “We would support it. Any administration in terms of two terms, doesn’t get enough time to properly organise the sport and giving the current administration another term to function would be good for them in terms of actually doing what they want to do. I feel it would give them some pace, some wiggle room. I don’t have an issue with the third term.”

“The GFF actually held consultations with its various members on the entirety of the amendments. We at the BFA would consult our members before making a decision,” he also mentioned.

The GFF is slated to stage its Extraordinary Congress on August 27 at the National Training Centre, Providence, East Bank Demerara. The federation recently undertook the process of constitutional reform, ahead of the aforementioned forum.

A missive from the institution disclosed the aforementioned intent which it informs, was facilitated by the FIFA and regional confederation, CONCACAF.

According to the GFF, FIFA had officially communicated its intention to undertake the revision of its statutes, with the objective of ensuring compliance with the mandatory requirements contained in the edicts and regulations of the world body and CONCACAF.

A joint FIFA/CONCACAF delegation comprising FIFA Member Association Manager, Sofia Malizia, and One Concacaf Manager, Howard McIntosh, visited Guyana to commence and administer the process, a procedure that featured consultations with members of the GFF and other football stakeholders.

The GFF also appointed a ‘Statutes Revision Committee’ which was headed by Chairperson and President of the Guyana National Women’s Football Association, Andrea Johnson, though the composition of the aforesaid body still remains a mystery despite the conclusion of the process.
