Guyana will commence its 3×3 basketball campaign at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey tomorrow. The Guyanese team, who are the only athletes representing the Land of Many Waters, comprises Stanton Rose Jr., Travis Belgrave, Nikolai Smith, and Harold Adams. Their coordinator is Junior Hercules.
Guyana has been drawn in Group-B of the 20-team tournament alongside the likes of Iran, Maldives, Uganda, and Mauritania.
In 2017, the 3×3 format of basketball replaced the traditional game at the Islamic Solidarity Games which commenced in Saudi Arabia in 2005. Guyana is the only English-speaking country at this year’s edition that is slated to feature 55 countries.
