Third annual Nexgen GolFun Camp tees off Monday

The third edition of the Junior GolFun Camp hosted by the Guyana Golf Association (GGA) and Nexgen Golf Academy tees off on Monday from 16:00 hours at the Scouts Association Ground on Woolford Avenue, Georgetown.

According to a release from the GGA, the camp is in honour of the Shafura Hussain Foundation and late coach, Colin Ming, both of whom shared the vision of a better future for youths through sports.

The release states that this year’s GolFun Camp is expected to set the standard for fun youth activities as more than 200 youngsters from ages 3 to 18 will partake in golfing, archery by ProArchers Guyana, physical fitness, and table tennis, along with training sessions in self defence and first aid, courtesy of Praetorian Security Services.

There will also be a drone display by Caliper Drones and photography by Al Wilson Jr.

Players will be provided with equipment, balls, coaching, snacks (Sunshine Snacks), water (CIDI), ice-cream (Sterling Products), and will all receive a Certificate of Completion.

Parents will be treated to complimentary massages (ModFin Salon), wine tasting (Italian Gourmet), tea and scones, and a chance to play golf and archery with Coaches Anand Mangra and Narda Mohamed, as well as learning to fly a drone with Caliper Drones while they’re waiting for the kids to complete their activities.

Hussain thanked the multitude of sponsors, while acknowledging “those who have believed in our vision from the beginning and the many new ones who are supporting the rapid growth of golf in Guyana are the reason for our success.”
