A badly decomposing body found in the Demerara River on Thursday was buried before identification but DNA samples have been taken.
Commander of Regional Division 4 ‘C’ Khali Pareshram said that the police are still waiting to see if relatives or friends would come forward to identify the body. He added that according to the state of decomposition of the body, it was buried.
The Guyana Police Force said ranks at the Brickdam Police Station received a call about a body seen floating at the eastern bank of the Demerara River in the vicinity of Tiger Bay. The male body was discovered at about 12:15 hrs, badly decomposed, with one of the feet, a hand and the head appearing to have either been eaten or rotted. The body was clad in a pair of grey three-quarter pants.
