Jamzone beauties stunned the crowd in the first leg of the competition when they made their public debut during the Jamzone Beach Jam, hosted at the Kingston beachfront, Georgetown, two Sundays ago.
The seven contestants participated in the Fantasy Swimwear segment of the pageant in attire from Guyanese designers – Randy Madray, Olympia Small Sonaram, Keisha Edwards, Dexter Gardner and Rhonda Jackson – illustrating various aspects of Guyana tourism. The winner of this segment will be announced during the finale of the pageant.
The fantasy wear segment was judged by Quinton Pearson of House of Pearson, Yulex Fung, Christa Simmons and fitness expert Yusuf Khan.
The scores from this segment and the live intelligence segment, which was aired on NCN and HJTV, will be added to tonight’s final proceedings. The pageant kicks off at 8 PM at the National Cultural Centre.
The seven contestants, Shaniya Decosta, Jasmaine Assanah, Jade Mercurius, Amel Griffith, Phelicia Adams, Omaiah Hall, and Jada Jones, will compete in swimwear, evening gown, fantasy swimwear, national costume and talent categories.
In a press statement, the organisers said that with a focus placed on tourism, each contestant will represent a town in Guyana.
“The pageant aims to create tourism opportunities, promote societal connections and encourage self-confidence among young women,” the release said. The winner of the pageant will walk away with a brand new car, while the first runner-up will receive a cash prize of $500,000. The second runner-up gets a $250,000 cash prize.
Tickets cost $2000, $2500 and $3000.
