Identify corruption clearly with supporting evidence

Dear Editor,

In another media, one Kris Kooblall (Aug 13) talked of corruption. It is indisputable that corruption is widespread. Actual evidence of corruption is needed and must be exposed.  Mr. Norton, as Leader of Opposition, I hope you realize that by performing the role of Opposition Leader wisely and effectively you can contribute to good governance of country. The quality of governance has been declining. Your standing in the country, if you grab the bull by the horns on governance, I suggest you examine, investigate and expose the wrong doings plaguing so many Ministries and the government at large. Just shouting corruption and making unfounded claims of racial discrimination will not get you or the opposition closer to governance.

Your support base is solid and will not grow by merely shouting “racism”. People of all ethnicities are feeling the pinch while a handful are enjoying life at our expense. What I feel is required is for you to regularly and clearly identify corrupt situations with illustrations or examples. Instruct your aides to do research and present facts to the press on wrong doings, corruption in particular.  In so doing, you will build support. The evidence is available. It just requires some investigative work. The Opposition Leader has the constitutional authority to access government information and awarding of contracts. Evidence on corruption must be found and presented to the public. There are dozens of cases across all Ministries. Mr. Opposition Leader, I have done half of your work, I look forward for you doing the other half in exposing corruption.

Sincerely,

Jillian Adams
