Slingerz FC dismissed Eagles 3-0 to maintain their perfect record, when the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League continued at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora, West Coast Demerara, on Friday evening.
Delon Lanferman propelled the Vergenoegen-based outfit into the lead in the 32nd minute, before an unfortunate own goal in the 45th minute made it 2-0. The eventual score-line was then sealed in the 84th minute, following a strike from substitute forward Deon Alfred.
Meanwhile, Pouderoyen and Den Amstel battled to a 2-2 stalemate. It was a game of two halves, as Pouderoyen seized a two-goal advantage heading into the halftime interval, following conversions from Matthew Chidune, and Kayode King.
It was a fortuitous conversion to break the deadlock in the 18th minute, as an initial shot from Stephon Jupiter was parried by the goalkeeper into the path of Chidune, who slotted into the back of the net.
Pouderoyen then increased their lead compliments of a horrendous goalkeeping error in the 35th minute. It was another fortuitous conversion, as a free kick from just over the halfway line, went inexplicably through the grasp of the goalkeeper and settled into the back of the net.
Den Amstel would then reduce the deficit in the 65th minute, as a cross from the right side of the field, landed in the path of Kevin Warde, who slotted into the left corner to restore parity to proceedings.
The Den Amstel outfit eventually equalised in the 80th minute in the form of Andre Hector, who converted from the penalty spot into the left corner, after Gideon Payne was fouled inside the penalty box.
