Rivers View won the Bartica Football Association (BFA) Senior Men’s League, coming from behind to defeat Rising Stars 3-1 on Saturday evening at the Community Centre ground.
Rising Stars took the lead in the 39th minute. This proved to be the only conversion of the half. However, three unanswered goals in the second stanza, sealed the win for the experienced Rivers View unit.
Andrew Simmons equalised in the 62nd minute. It was his 18th conversion of the league. Simmons would then record his 19th goal, as he found the back of the net in the 79th minute. Omario Lake completed the comeback victory compliments of an 88th minute conversion.
With the result, Rivers View walked away with the championship trophy and $300,000. On the individual side, Simmons was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
