From October of this year, electronics and home appliances store A. Ally and Sons will no longer be operating from the Giftland Mall as that company and proprietor of the mall, Roy Beepat could not agree on space display requirements.
“I have nothing but good things to say about Mr. Ally but the mall has evolved from what it was seven years ago. And the direction it is going in right now, we could not agree on some things,” Beepat told Stabroek News yesterday.
The store announced its move on Monday on its Facebook page. “Please be advised that as a result of Giftland Mall policies, A. Ally and Sons will be closing its Giftland Branch effective September 30th 2022”.
A Ally and Sons could not be reached for comment yesterday.
Beepat said that he has no complaints about Ally as a client but that the store was too congested for the designated area, even as the mall upgrades to bring to its customers a modern appeal and comfortable shopping experience.
“It is really how the mall is going. You see Courts and Ashley’s and the Supermarket …how it is laid out. We want a more modern setting. At the (store), they had too many things in too tight a space,” he said.
With a branch already at the MovieTowne Mall, a short distance away, A. Ally told its customers to “be sure to visit our bigger better location” where they can experience “our always expanding range of products and much more.”
After a more than US$30M investment, Giftland Mall opened its doors in 2015 boasting to be Guyana’s first Mega Mall.
