A number of local businesses from across Guyana participated in a two-day Supplier Engagement Workshop executed by the RAMPS Logistics Guyana Inc. a subsidiary of the Trinidad & Tobago-based RAMPS Logistics with the support of its local subsidiary El Dorado Offshore, (EDO) which workshop, a company media release said was executed as part of its approved one-year Local Plan.
A release from the company sent to this newspaper said that the Workshop was executed in order to help suppliers understand “the needs and requirements for supplying goods and services to the oil and gas sector in Guyana.
The release said that the Workshop targeted vendors currently providing supplies to the oil and gas sector locally as well as entities “interested in working with companies that operate within the energy sector.” The release said that in executing the Seminar it was also seeking to strengthen the skills and abilities of local businesses to better position them to “survive, adapt and thrive” in what it describes as “a new fast-paced industry.”
The company release said that the virtual event enabled the delivery of presentations by ‘instructors’ on various issues pertaining to providing services to the oil and gas sector including requisites for securing Quality and ISO Certification, Risk and Compliance, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) AND Social Media Marketing among other disciplines.
As part of Workshop the Company’s Procurement Manager,
Vishesh Supersad briefed attendees on the pre-qualification process for becoming a Supplier with Ramps Logistics and El Dorado Offshore. Supersaud also disclosed to participants in the worksjop the company’s intention to continue to work with them and their companies with a view to enhancing their capacity to serve the sector.
Having located in Guyana in 2013 RAMPS logistics has since moved to partner with various local business enterprises in the execution of various projects.
Ramps Logistics Guyana Inc has been operating in Guyana since 2013 and has partnered with many local businesses on projects, events and CSR initiatives. In its release the company said that itself and its subsidiary, EDO Ramps and EDO had used the opportunity afforded by the Workshop to meet new local entrepreneurs and small business owners who, the company said “can benefit from the expanding Oil and Gas sector.”
Some of the companies represented at the session have completed prequalification forms for supplying the companies with goods and services.
Back in April RAMPS has said in an interview with the Stabroek News that part of its interest in Guyana was centred around the export of local agricultural produce in North America.
