Contrasting wins were recorded by Melanie and Victoria Kings when the East Demerara Football Association Stag Beer Senior League continued on Wednesday.
Staged at the Buxton Community Centre ground, Melanie mauled Airy Hall 6-1. Three goals on either side of the halftime interval highlighted the offensive quality of the eventual victor. Teshawn Gordon, the scorer of an eventual hat-trick, led the rout with a first-half double in the 3rd and 13th minute.
Colin Henriques added to the score in the 17th minute to make it 3-0, before an Eion Abel conversion in the 22nd minute marginally reduced the deficit to 3-1. However, the lopsided nature of the contest continued in the second stanza, as a further three goals were recorded.
Dexter Marker and Collis Wiltshire etched their name on the scorer’s sheet in the 48th and 51st minute respectively to push the score to 5-1, before Gordon sealed his hat-trick and the score-line with an 80th-minute effort.
Meanwhile, Victoria Kings edged Haslington 2-1. Calvin DeSouza proved to be the difference on the night, as he crafted a first half brace. DeSouza found the back of the net in the 18th and 30th minute. For the loser, Terry Gardner scored in the 65th minute.
