A 20-year-old man was shot to one of his lips in the wee hours of Thursday morning, after a heated argument with another man over a woman.
According to a Guyana Police Force press release, Shamar Adrian, of Byderabo Road, Bartica, Essequibo River, was shot around 04:00hrs at 14 miles Landing Issano Main Road.
The press release stated that the suspect and Adrian had a heated argument over a woman, which resulted in the suspect drawing a small handgun from his waistband, pointing it in Adrian’s direction and firing a round at him.
Adrian was struck to his lower lip.
Adrian lost consciousness and regained consciousness while relatives were transporting him to the Troy Resources Medical Centre for treatment. His condition is regarded as serious.
The police said the suspect escaped on foot in an unknown direction after the shooting and had yet to be arrested.
