Youths from various communities in Region Two were trained in sari making, dancing and public speaking at recent Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha Essequibo Coast Naujawaan summer camps.
The summer camps attracted 86 youths from across Region Two and were held at the Anna Regina Kendra.
According to President of the Naujawaan Arvin Singh, the camps were successful and at the end, each participant received a certificate of participation. Singh said that the camps resumed after two years of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the children were excited to be a part of group activities.
He noted that in addition to the various training, the participants were also involved in group activities. Health talks were also conducted with the youths by a doctor from the Suddie Public Hospital.
Singh said that more camps are planned in the future for the youths and encouraged young people to get on board with the Naujawaan. He said that the executive is involved in “Bacho-Ka-Satsangh” — teaching young people about the Hindu religion and simple prayers. A back-to-school drive is also planned for September to assist parents to send their children to school. The executive was also involved in several charity drives.
Singh said anyone that wishes to join Dharmic Naujawan can do so by reaching out to the Facebook page “Dharmic Naujawaan Essequibo Coast” or any members.
