President Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley met yesterday with the Governor of the Brazilian state of Roraima, Antonio Denarium, at the Governor’s Palace in Boa Vista.
A statement from the Office of the President said that discussions focused on agriculture, trade, infrastructure and strengthening relations between Guyana, Barbados and the state of Roraima.
Guyana’s Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond and senior officials of the Barbadian Government were also at the meeting. Ali and Mottley flew over to Boa Vista from Trinidad and Tobago yesterday, where they attended the Twin Island Republic’s second Agri-Investment Forum and Expo.
Brazil’s northern states are looking for an outlet to transport and receive goods via the Caribbean Sea while the region is looking for market access to Roraima.
