A new champion will be crowned the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Berbice Zone, as holders Trafalgar were eliminated on the opening night at the Rosignol Ferry Tarmac on Sunday evening.
Trafalgar lost to newcomer Ithaca 0-1 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 3-3. Meanwhile, Lovely Lass went down to Hopetown 0-1, while East Bank Gunners defeated Black Sharks 1-0. Also, Upstarts defeated Youngsters 1-0 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 3-3.
The other four teams that were given byes to the quarterfinal round which is scheduled for today are, All-Stars, Rising Stars, Rosignol, and Showtime.
In the opening quarterfinal match, Hopetown tackles Ithaca at 19:00hrs, while East Bank Gunners oppose Upstarts at 19:45hrs, and Rising Stars engage Rosignol at 20:30hrs. In the final match, Showtime battles All-Stars at 21:15hrs.
