A Corentyne house which had been leaning to one side for some time collapsed on Thursday evening while an elderly bedridden man and his wife were fast asleep inside.
The bedridden man was trapped underneath the house after the collapse but was eventually rescued by neighbours who rushed over to assist.
According to information gathered, the elderly couple, Natool Madray, 62, and Parbattie Budhoo, also known as ‘Sisto’, 45, had resided together at the Number 64 Village, Corentyne wooden house over the past twenty years. The structure had deteriorated over the years and for several months now had begun leaning to one side.
