President Irfaan Ali announced the construction of a new school for Shea village during a visit on Sunday to the Region Nine community.
The Wapichan village, which is located about 100 miles southeast of Lethem by dirt road, will play a part in the construction of the $10m school since blocks will be sourced from the community.
In addition, the President also announced that the contract for the bridge into Shea has been awarded.
After listening to the concerns of the residents, Ali also said that the Government would assist in marketing peanuts and farine from the community, according to a post on the Office of the President Facebook page.
