He told police that while they were proceeding along the western side of the road in the vicinity of Clarke’s Turn the rider who was proceeding at a fast rate, lost control and ended up going straight into the trench.

The pillion rider then jumped off the motorcycle as it was heading into the trench.  Both persons were picked up in a conscious state by police and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where the driver was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty while the pillion rider was seen and examined and admitted at the said institution after suffering from a fractured leg in a stable condition.
