A butcher who collapsed and died around 2pm last Saturday, in the vicinity of Survival Supermarket on Sheriff Street, died from a myocardial infarction (heart attack), the autopsy report revealed on Wednesday
The dead’s man niece, Asha Bovell, told Stabroek News that her uncle, Rampaul Mohan, 60, known as ‘Bowdoo’, com-plained about migraines a few weeks back. She said he visited the Georgetown Public Hospital (GHPC) to see why he was having the migraines. He did a couple of tests but all came back negative. Bovell added that no one was sure where Mohan was going as he didn’t contact any of his family members like he always would do when he goes to visit his sister at her workplace on Sheriff Street.
Bovell recounted that her uncle on Saturday left his 124th Cove and John, East Coast Demerara home well-dressed. He told his neighbours who inquired about where he was going that, “he coming back just now.” She explained to this newspaper that Mohan lives alone and that he and the neighbours are close. So on Monday when they saw that the lights in his house were on but his door was locked, they immediately called his relatives, who live at Lot 2 Cove and John, ECD, to inquire about him.
Bovell added that while at work on Sunday, she stumbled across a headline that referred to a man who collapsed and fell. How-ever, she wasn’t sure if it was her uncle until she did an online search and saw the photo of her uncle. She noted that although the photo wasn’t that clear, she felt sure it was him as she observed that the man was dressed in the identical way with the same style as her uncle. Bovell sent her family members the photo and they all agreed it was him, but they were still puzzled. Bovell and her family then contacted the Kitty police station on Tuesday, who directed them to the Prashad Nagar’s Police Outpost. Ranks then accompanied them to GPHC to identify the body.
