The police today said that they are investigating a report of a hit and run accident yesterday in which a Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara man died.
The police identified the dead pedestrian as Azaad Khan, age 42 years, of Lot ‘S’ Blankenburg.
The accident involved a black Allion motor car.
Commander for Regional Police Division #3, Assistant Commissioner Mahendra Siwnarine later confirmed that the vehicle involved in the accident has been found, and the driver is presently in custody. He has since admitted to Police that he was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident, and the reason he fled the scene was because he ‘panicked’.
