An anti-crime patrol unit attached to the Beterverwagting Police Station on Saturday night discovered 121.7 grams of marijuana at Hendricks Street, Triumph Front, East Coast Demerara.
In a statement, the Police Force said that the ranks were out patrolling and at about 7:55 pm while responding to a report of assault, they stumbled upon the illicit drug.
The ranks went into a partially fenced yard situated on the northern side of Hendricks Street and with the help of a cellphone light, one of the policemen observed a piece of branch resting on a bulky black plastic bag.
He immediately took possession of the bag and examined it. The policeman discovered 64 transparent zip lock bags containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis in the black bag. It was then taken to the BV Police Station where it was weighed and kept in custody.
No arrest has been made in relation to the incident.
