A New Amsterdam pump attendant was on Sunday evening robbed of $125,000 after two men armed with a gun pounced on him.
Stabroek News was told that David Rohan also known as `Legs’, 18, a pump attendant attached to the C. Mahabir and Sons Gas Station located along the New Amsterdam Main Road was robbed just before midnight by two men, one armed with a gun.
According to Rohan, he was at the gas station sitting on a bench when the two men arrived. He said one of the men walked into the gas station and stood next to the kerosene pump while the second remained standing on the main road.
Initially, one of the robbers told Rohan that he wanted to purchase kerosene but upon approaching him Rohan noticed that the man was armed with a gun. At that stage, the robber ordered Rohan to hand over the money he had in his possession.
According to Rohan, the perpetrator held the gun to him while they walked over to the drawer where the money was kept.
After taking the $125,000 from the pump attendant, the two men escaped on foot through a nearby street.
The police were immediately informed and an investigation has been launched. As of yesterday afternoon no arrest had been made.
