The Golden Jaguars’ chances of qualifying for the Concacaf U17 men’s championships were extinguished yesterday after they drew with the British Virgin Islands (BVI) 1-1 yesterday at the IMG Facility in Bradenton, Florida, USA.
Needing a victory to keep their hopes alive of advancing to the next round, Guyana, whose starting XI comprised Duqain Samuels, Shakeel Welcome, Swade Edwards, Gerry Burnette, Seon Cato, Omar Sam, Krishtian Louis, Kvist Paul, Matrim Martin, Noah Kissoon and Bryan Wharton, could only muster a draw. It was a come-from-behind result after Johnny-Jay Rowe had handed the BVI unit the lead in the 41st minute. Guyana would eventually equalise in the 70th minute via Wharton.
