Four local gladiators, Carlos Petterson-Grifith, Julio Sinclair, Junica Pluck and Kean Andrews showed up and showed out during this past weekend at StrongFest Barbados.
The quartet invaded Barbados and dominated the two-day event where athletes from around the region displayed their strength prowess in a plethora of events.
According to reports, in the men’s segment, Petterson-Grifith placed first on Day 1 while Sinclair had the third best total. However, one Day 2, Sinclair was the winner while Petterson-Grifith placed second.
Pluck placed second on Day 1 while Andrews had the third best total. On Day 2, Andrews placed second while Pluck finished third.
Back from a hiatus due to the pandemic, StrongFest was staged at the St George’s Secondary School in the parish of St George.
Over the weekend, the athletes were tasked with competing in the powerlifting segment on Day 1 and the ‘Strong Man’ segment on Day 2.
Day 1 activities entailed the squat, bench press and deadlift, while the following day athletes were tasked with doing tyre flips, overhead shoulder presses, farmer’s carry, yoke carry, the stone challenge, the sand bag challenge and the kettle bell backward throw.
Petterson-Grifith and Sinclair were the defending Day 1 and Day 2 champions respectively.
The event also attracted athletes from Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
