Dear Editor,
The letter writer calling for a review of the existing passport issuance measures and recommendations therein (SN September 6), are with some merit. However, the reason I believe passports are not renewed as previously done, but a new one issued, after five years, has to do with the machine (electronic) readable features, which might reject the document, if the passport holder’s features, including updated photograph, are not updated in the electronic system, which will make document processing easier and seamless. Good observations but might not be practical in the current context.
