Guyanese fighter Stephan Da Silva will fight for the WBL World Title on Australian soil on the Gairy St Clair Superhero Pro Fight Night card.
The Guyana-born former IBO/IBF World Champion St Clair, will host his first professional fight night Saturday and it seems fitting that he will be giving another gifted Guyanese fighter the chance to fulfil his destiny.
Da Silva has already arrived in Sydney, Australia to battle Fijian William Mel for the WBL Lightweight World Title.
“I’m so happy to be able to give Stephan Da Silva the opportunity to claim the World Title and put Guyana boxing on the map once again,” said St Clair.
“My home country is never far from my mind, and to have someone from Georgetown fighting on the card at my first professional fight night is something I am very proud of.”
Da Silva begun his boxing journey in 2013, a decision that was easy for the 20-year-old who had a natural love of the sport. He had his first fight a year later, and turned pro earlier this year. His World Title fight on Saturday, September 10 at West HQ Rooty Hill in western Sydney will be his second professional fight. Since arriving in Australia, Da Silva has been training at Gairy St Clair’s Boxing Fitness Gym in the southern Sydney suburb of Gymea, and has had sparring practise with Australia’s Olympic medallist, Harry Garside.
