The Providence, East Bank Demerara koker door that collapsed on Thursday was replaced yesterday at approximately 10 am.
The koker door collapsed on Thursday at approximately 2 am causing damage to property in hundreds of households in the area and triggering recriminations over who should be held responsible. Over 200 households in Providence and Peters Hall were said to be affected by flooding, with the lower flats of these houses being inundated, the Ministry of Agriculture had said on Thursday.
In telephone interviews with Stabroek News yesterday, residents said that they have not received compensation for losses incurred as a result of the collapsed koker door and subsequent flooding.
