Two persons were arrested on Monday after the police seized an unlicensed firearm and a quantity of cannabis during a raid in West Canje, Berbice.
According to a police press release, ranks from Region Six carried out an intelligence-led operation during which a .38 firearm and the suspected cannabis was found.
The raid was carried out at the Budhan’s Housing Scheme, West Canje, Berbice home of one of the suspects.
Police said the firearm was found hidden in the roof while the suspected cannabis was in a black plastic bag.
The suspects were escorted to the Central Police station where the firearm was lodged. The suspected narcotics was weighed in their presence and amounted to 487 grams.
Both suspects are 21 years old.
