On Wednesday, 14th of September 2022, Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) Officers at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) intercepted a female outgoing passenger destined for the United States of America (USA) with a large quantity of suspected cocaine concealed in biscuit wrappers in her carry-on luggage.
Unique Sunshine London, 59 years of Lot 54 Haslington East Coast Demerara was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected cocaine.
A release from CANU said that the narcotics tested positive for cocaine and amounted to 11.188kgs (24 lbs) with a street value of $12.3M and US$336,000 if landed in the USA.
