Haslington woman tried to smuggle cocaine to US in Shirley biscuit wrappers -CANU

A 59-year-old Haslington East Coast Demerara woman was on Wednesday intercepted by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) after being found with close to 25 pounds of cocaine in biscuit wrappers in her carry-on luggage.

In a Facebook post, CANU said Unique Sunshine London, a 59-year-old woman of Lot 54 Haslington, East Coast Demerara, was arrested and escorted to its headquarters after its officers discovered a large quantity of suspected cocaine concealed in biscuit wrappers in her carry-on luggage. Cocaine was also found in a caramel wafer biscuit wrapper.

According to the post, London was an outgoing passenger destined for the United States of America.

The narcotics tested positive for cocaine and amounted to 11.188 kilogrammes, valued at GY$12.3 million, and US$336,000 if landed in the USA.
