It was match-day highlighted by drawn encounters as Botofago and Capital FC as well as Milerock and Winners Connection battled to respective stalemates in the Upper Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League yesterday.
Staged at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, Linden, Botofago and Capital FC played to a 1-1 result. Following a scoreless first half period, Shemar Caesar handed Botofago the lead in the 63rd minute. Awarded a penalty kick following an infraction inside the area, Caesar made no mistake from the distance, as he fired his effort past the custodian.
Nonetheless, veteran midfielder Keon Sears made his presence felt in the 76th minute to restore parity to proceedings. Lurking inside the penalty box awaiting a cross from a corner-kick, Sears rose above his marker to direct his header into the back of the net.
Meanwhile, Winners Connection and Milerock played to a scoreless draw.
