Star cyclist Jamual John brought his talents back to Guyana and rode off with the spoils of the Victor Macedo road race on Sunday.
Fresh off a training and competition stint in the USA, the Team Foundation standout finished at the top of the podium for the race which rolled off at Queenstown, proceeded to Mahaicony Bridge before returning to CARIFESTA Avenue for the finish.
John clocked two hours, 30 minutes and 23 seconds leading Curtis Dey and Briton John onto the podium while Romello Crawford, Christopher Griffith and Deeraj Garbarran filled out the top six rewarding positions.
Despite not winning the race, Briton John made hay in the brilliant sunshine earning seven of the 10 sprint prizes on offer.
Last year’s senior winner, Walter Grant-Stuart finished first in the veteran’s Under 50 category. The one-armed wheelsman bested Alex Mendes, Paul Choowenam, Segan Hubbard and Robin Persaud in that order.
The top three junior riders were Alex Leung, Mario Washington and Sherwin Sampson while Clavecia Spencer was the first female cyclist to finish the grueling event.
Nevan Wilson and Christian Dudley were the top two pre juniors while Talim Shaw was the first veteran over 50 to cross the line.
