Dear Editor,
On Monday, September 19, 2022, after disembarking from an Inter-Caribbean Airways flight from Timheri to Bridgetown, I witnessed the mistreatment of a Guyanese senior citizen in a wheelchair. The lady pointed out that she was being harassed by the airport staff, who showed no regard for her age or that she required assistance and was insulting and yelling at her.
The humiliation of the senior citizen is one of the continuous mistreatment of Guyanese who transit through Grantley Adams airport. The Bajan airport staff treat Guyanese with utter disdain (young, old, in-between). It is clear that despite Barbados’ Prime Minister’s infatuation with Guyana, this has not translated into improved reception of Guyanese at the Grantley Adams airport.
Sincerely,
