On 23rd September 2022, Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers, acting on information received, conducted an operation in the village of Sheet Anchor, East Canje Berbice. The officers intercepted Oneil Lampkin, 31 years who resides at Lot 16 Sheet Anchor, East Canje Berbice under the Canje bridge with a small quantity of suspected cannabis in his possession, a release from CANU said.
The said individual was subsequently escorted to his home, where the officers conducted searches of the said property and the surrounding bushes. While searching the surrounding bushes the officers discovered two large parcels containing suspected cannabis.
The suspected narcotics along with Lampkin who was arrested were escorted to CANU headquarters.
The suspected narcotics tested positive for cannabis. The narcotics which was found in Lampkin’s possession has a total weight of 18.3 grams and the quantity of narcotics which were discovered near his home have a total weight 47.5 kg.
Investigations are ongoing.
