British Guiana defeated Barbados at Inter Colonial golf in 1932

The first Inter-Colonial golf tournament between British Guiana and Barbados was contested 90 years in April of 1932.

British Guiana won the two match series 2-0.

Barbados won one match on the tour which was against the Demerara Golf Club at Turkeyen on April 5th 1932.

The following day the singles event was contested at Turkeyen and on April 7th, the visitors took on the Georgetown Golf Club.

On April 8th the Open Medal Play tournament was held at Turkeyen  and the following day Barbados took on a  British Guiana  selection in four ball at the at Georgetown Golf Club.

On April 10th Barbados and British Guiana clashed in a foursome at Georgetown Golf Club.

At the conclusion of the series of matches the Barbados captain Major Austin said the credit of this movement must be given to the British Guiana Golf Association which had extended an invitation to the Rockley Golf Club of Barbados.

The invitation was only too willingly accepted and the result was that eight players came to British Guiana from Barbados.

The touring Barbados side consisted of the following players captain B.G Austin the Governor of Barbados, W.M Robertson, E.O Elliot, C.F Adams, M.P Parker, F. Berry, O.C Bynoe and J. O’Dowd.

British Guiana won first match at Demerara Golf Club Turkeyen and the two ball foursome game played at the Georgetown Golf Club where the following pairs participated.

Major H. B. C Austin and M.B. Parker of Barbados vs A. A Cooper and S.C Smith of British Guiana.

J. O. D Egan and Captain F. Berry of Barbados vs Captain Boijeau and captain Burnett of British Guiana.

Governor General W.M Robertson and E.C Elliot of Barbados vs Dr. Steven and T.S Harrington of British Guiana.

C.C Bynoe and Major C.F Adams of Barbados vs A. G. King and J.W Potter of British Guiana.
