(Trinidad Guardian) The body of Merissa Edwards has been found in a drain in Couva.
A search party found her body shortly before 6 pm today.
Extensive searches have been ongoing by the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, police and relatives over the past week.
She was last seen by her relatives on September 18 when she left her Freeport home with her boyfriend Simeon Roopchand.
Her boyfriend told relatives that he dropped her off on the highway near a track that leads to her home.
However, on Saturday her boyfriend was found hanging from a tree in a forested area in Tabaquite.
Investigators suspect that he killed her and then killed himself.
