Ann’s Grove youth killed by father died of chop to neck – autopsy

An autopsy conducted last Friday confirmed that Seon Scott, the Ann’s Grove youth who was killed by his father before the man launched an assault on his wife and then took his own life, died of a chop wound to the neck.

Scott, 21, of Lot 24 Middle Walk, Ann’s Grove East Coast Demerara, was attacked by Leon Bobb, 57, in the wee hours of last Wednesday morning. Scott was chopped to death while he was asleep.

A survivor of the rampage, Sharon Scott, 53, remains hospitalised as she recovers from chop wounds and burns about her body, which she suffered in the attack.

Bobb chopped Sharon several times about her body, drenched her in gasoline and set her ablaze. He then ingested a poisonous substance, cut himself in the abdomen, and set himself ablaze. An autopsy revealed that he died from ingesting a poisonous substance.

It is unclear what triggered Bobb to act in such a manner but Sharon’s relatives told Stabroek News that he had accused her of having an affair with another man.

According to the Guy-ana Police Force, the fatal attack occurred at about 02:20 hours on Wednesday. Noise was heard coming from the residence after which Sharon was seen running out of the house with blood on her clothing. Bobb ran behind Sharon with a cutlass in his hand, telling her to come back into the house. The woman managed to escape and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) by her daughter.  Sharon was admitted to the Burn Unit with first degree burns.

While Seon was found dead in the house, Bobb was found alive and was rushed to the GPH, where he died while in the process of receiving treatment.
