Dear Editor,
Why did it have to take a protest action to yield attention to the school in Region One? (SN September 27) Surely the authorities, regional and national, must have known of the deplorable state of the school and act to get it fixed. Now school has reopened and students and teachers are inconvenienced by the decision now that the ‘building would no longer be occupied until emergency remedial works is carried out’. The protest action yielded the desired outcome but it remains a blot on the authorities for their clumsiness in the matter. On another school matter: did I miss the response on the stalled school project in Region Ten, promised by the director of the company executing its construction, as lamented by the regional authorities?
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
