The inaugural triangular Inter-County cricket tournament was held in August 1952.
Demerara, led by Robert Christiani, emerged winners by defeating Berbice in the final on first innings points.
In the elimination match at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Bourda, Berbice defeated Essequibo by nine wickets.
Essequibo scored 80 all out in their first innings with B. Moses 25 not out, B. Lall 24 and skipper George Irving 17 the top scorers.
Bowling for Berbice, Bajou Baijnauth took 5-25 from 13 overs and Ganim Khan 3 for 15 from 10 overs.
Berbice scored 143 all out in their first innings with C. Paul 45, L .Milne 28 and Lloyd Thomas 17, the principal scorers. Bowling for Essequibo Moses captured 5 for 43 from 13.4 overs and M. Azeez took 3 for 43 from 15 overs.
Essequibo scored 134 all out in their second innings with Irving, 31, Lall, 20, P. Williams 14, Moses 14 and A. Azeez 13, the major contributors.
Bowling for Berbice, Khan took 4 for 30 from 18.5 overs, captain Angus Learmond 2 for 12 from six overs and L Bickram 2 for 23 from eight overs. Berbice, set 73 for victory reached their target for the loss of one wicket. L Milne 36 not out and B Ajodhai 27 not out.
The final between Berbice and Demerara at GCC, Bourda was drawn. Demerara scored 257 all out in their first innings with Bruce Pairaudeau 42, Leslie Wight 68, Glendon Gibbs 46 and John Trim playing for Demerara 37. Bowling for Berbice, Ganim Khan took 5 for 68 from 28.2 overs and Baijnauth 3 for 69 from 30 overs.
Berbice, in thir first innings scored 189 all out with C Paul 52, S Moonsammy 38, D Ajodhai 33 and Lloyd Thomas 29. Bowling for Demerara, Aubrey Bishop retired Chief Justice (deceased) took 6 for 56 from 24.5 overs and Norman Wight 2 for 38 from 17 overs. Demerara in their second innings scored 102 all out with Arnold Gibbons 27, Bruce Pairaudeau 22 and Leslie Wight 18. Bowling for Berbice B. Bickram took 4 for 17 from 12 overs, Ganim Khan took 2 for 13 from 11 overs and Bajou Baijnauth took 2 for 20 from 11 overs. Berbice in thier second innings reached 109 for 9 woth Baijnauth 41, B. Baikram 22 not out and C .Paul 17 the principal scorers. Bowling for Demerara Vibert Rodney took 6 for 29 from 19 overs, Norman Wight 2 for 19 and Bishop 1 for 27. At the conclusion of the tournament, Kenny L. Wishart honorary Secretary of the then British Guiana Cricket Board and chairman of the selection committee referred to the fact that the tournament had originated through the efforts of Mr JT Storey. The then honorary secretary of the Essequibo Cricket Board. He was glad to say that the tournament had been a success from every point of view and he hoped it had come to stay.
