Dear Editor,
Two recent news items were pleasing. The first has to do with the long issue regarding sweeper/cleaners of government schools. At last some dignity and respect have been brought to this category of workers. Now to bring about a meaningful closure to that long issue of new entrants into the Public Service having to wait three months before receiving their first salary. While the issue was hotly debated in the hallowed chamber and ‘within a reasonable time’ was the final outcome. However, it is understood that persons are still waiting three months for their salary. The second pleasing item, we are told of being another step closer to the establishing of a CLE Law School in Guyana. Two positive developments among other developments taking place.
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
