Following the completion of his inaugural season in the Major League Soccer (MLS) Next Pro League, Chicago Fire II rising star, Omari Glasgow, affirmed that the tournament is very intense, and indicative of what competitive football entails.
This was disclosed during an exclusive interview with Stabroek Sport. According to the Golden Jaguars international, “[the first season] was great, [I] had a chance to see what football at a high level daily feels like and how competitive it is. The quality was good, [it’s] very intense and sharp so you have to be on your ‘A’ game all the time.”
Glasgow recently concluded his freshman season in the MLS Next Pro League, the third tier of US Soccer. The former Western Tigers winger amassed 15 appearances, of which 14 were starts to accumulate a total of 1248 minutes. He recorded five goals and four assists during this period.
With six conversions and one assist in 11 senior national team appearances, the footballer stated that the aim of his second season is to continue to be impactful on the field, which will play a part in winning matches.
He explained, “Well my objectives for next season is to continue being dominant as always [and] scoring and assisting in every game possible and just help my team win games.”
Asked about facets of his game that will require improvement heading into the next season, Glasgow conceded that finishing will be an area that must be fine-tuned.
“My finishing you know this season, I had a lot of chances but wasn’t putting them away, so that’s one of my main focus going into next season and everything else in my game you know just to keep taking in and try to get better in all aspects of my game.”
