Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in her La Grange, West Bank Demerara home yesterday afternoon.
Nirmala Sukhai, a 33-year-old labourer, of Lot 35 Factory Dam, La Grange, was found by her mother during a visit to her daughter’s home.
Sukhai, who lived alone, was found lying face down on her bed.
The Guyana Police Force last night said that it is suspected that the woman was killed sometime between about 23:00 hrs on Thursday and the time of the discovery of her body.
The body was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where Sukhai was pronounced dead on arrival. It was then escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral Home.
