Badminton players kick off Guyana’s S/A Games campaign

Badminton players, Narayan Ramdhani, Priyanna Ramdhani and Akili Haynes en route to Asuncion, Paraguay. The three athletes, who will swing into action today, are part of the 22-member contingent that will take part in the X11 edition of the South American Games which kicks off today with Paraguay playing host until October 15.

The X11 edition of the South American Games kicked off yesterday in Paraguay and part of Guyana’s delegation was among the welcoming ceremony.

Guyana’s 16 athletes are set to compete in four disciplines; badminton, boxing, squash and table tennis.

The nation’s badminton players will be the first of the outfit to vie for medals when the discipline starts today and runs through October 7.  Boxing punches off a day later and concludes on October 13 while the table tennis and squash players will spring into action from October 9 and 10 respectively.
