Albion Cricket Club and Port Mourant Cricket Club will clash in the final of the Berbice Cricket Board/Kevin Sinclair Under-17 finals following yesterday’s semi-finals.
Albion defeated Rose Hall Canje by two wickets in a tense match at Jai Hind Ground while hosts, Port Mourant, defeated Cotton Tree by 10 wickets
Rose Hall Canje were bundled out for 83 in 28 overs with Avishwar Persaud top scoring with 20. Zadeen LaRose (17) and Lakeram Singh (10) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.
Kumar Deopersaud was the pick of the Albion bowlers, taking 4-16. He was supported by Tameshwar Mangal with 3-15 and Afraz Budhoo with 2-22.
In the chase, E. Mickle and Sanjay Algoo kept Rose Hall Canje in the contest with returns of 4-22 and 3-25 respectively.
However, Afrizal Kadir struck 27 and Damien Cecil chalked up 20 to see Albion reach 84 for eight.
Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, Cotton Tree were 78 all out after 28 overs, Trevis Dookharan playing the lone hand with 17. Romeo Deonarain bagged 2-2 while Ravin Boodwah picked up 2-12. Salim Khan and Rampertab Ramnauth took 2-18 each.
Ramnauth returned to hit an unbeaten 50 not out to lead his side over the line along with Deonarain who made 19 not out as Port Mourant reached 82 without loss in just 9.4 overs.
The BCB competitions committee will announce shortly the date and venue for the finals.
