The High Commission of India and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) in Georgetown yesterday marked the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the 118th birth anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
A release from the Indian High Commission said that the event was held at the Gandhi Statue in Promenade Gardens, Georgetown.
Prime Minister Mark Phillips, Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal and Georgetown Mayor Ubraj Narine attended along with members of the Diplomatic Corps and others.
