President Irfaan Ali this afternoon announced that all old age pensioners will benefit from a $28,000 one-off grant before the year ends.
“I am pleased to announce a one-off grant of $28,000 to be paid to every single old age pensioner before the end of 2022. This new announcement of this one-off grant in 2022 will provide an additional $1.8b in disposable income to our pensioners,” Ali said in his announcement.
His announcement was broadcast on all government-associated Facebook pages and on the National Communications Network.
This is the second time in two years that the government has granted a one-off grant to pensioners. Last year pensioners received a $25, 000 one-off grant.
